Glencairn Museum is pleased to welcome Yale psychologist and author Dr. Zorana Ivcevic Pringle for an inspiring lecture exploring the science and lived experience of creativity.
In this thought-provoking talk, Dr. Ivcevic Pringle challenges the myths that prevent many people from seeing themselves as creative. Drawing on decades of research behind The Creativity Choice, she shows that creativity is not a rare talent nor a sudden
flash of inspiration reserved for a fortunate few. Instead, it develops through sustained effort, experimentation, and “problem finding,” learning to recognize what is worth making and imagining it from multiple perspectives.
She also examines how thinking and feeling work together in the creative process. Emotions such as uncertainty, frustration, and excitement are not obstacles to overcome, but meaningful signals that can guide creative work forward. By reframing creativity as
something that grows through action and interaction with materials, audiences, and institutions, this lecture invites you to see creative expression, from art to everyday problem-solving, as deeply human and learnable.
