What could be better than grabbing a cool drink and chilling out on a Sunday arvo at Smith’s Alternative to live original local Indi-folk music with The Coolibah Coolective and The Lonely FatesCanberra jazzy folk groovers and story tellers The Coolibah Coolective have recently released their second album “See the Scene” and with this new addition to their contemporary folk repertoire you can feel the rhythm, hear the harmony, and see the scene unfold. Known for their solid catalogue of original music with wide appeal, Coolibah Coolective’s performances are powered by razor-edged strings, crisp percussion and gutsy melodies. Atmospheric songs blend cello, acoustic guitar and electric slide ukulele - the perfect backdrop for sublime harmonies.
Canberra indi-folk-country-soul faves The Lonely Fates sound evolves around the original songs of Fiona Bolton & Randall Blair augmented by the talents of multi-instrumentalist Cameron Burns and (the) drummer (everyone wants in their band) Chris Thwaites. The four of them have been in a bunch of other Canberra based acts such as The Wedded Bliss, Cuss, the Fred Smith band, Waterford and The Brass Knuckle Brass Band. Together, The Lonely Fates weave a swirling blend of luscious pop melody and soulful blues that will stay with you long after the show.
