The Connected Self Workshop
Columbine Unitarian Universalist Church
2-4PM
*Suggested donation to the church ($20)
Why This Workshop Matters
Many people who leave rigid or high-control religions feel disconnected from themselves long after leaving. When you’ve spent years being told who to be, what to believe, and how to make meaning, it makes sense that you might feel lost or unsure of who you are now.
This workshop gives you a grounded way to understand what’s been happening beneath the surface and simple, supportive practices that help you reconnect with yourself and begin moving forward with more clarity and direction.
What We'll Explore
• What connection actually means after religious trauma
• Why people lose self-trust, clarity, and direction after leaving high-control systems
• Practical ways to reconnect with your inner authority and sense of self
• A restorative meditation practice to help you integrate
• Reflection prompts + a take-home workbook
You’ll Walk Away With
• Clarity about what’s been causing disconnection
• A sense of who you are beneath old expectations and beliefs
• Simple tools to begin rebuilding meaning in a secular, self-directed way
• The relief of being in a room with others navigating similar experiences
This Workshop Is For You If You're:
• Healing from religious trauma
• Leaving or have left a rigid, high-control, or rule-bound religion
• Feeling disconnected or unsure who you are without the system you grew up in
• Craving meaning, clarity, and direction
