The Concert for Jenn is a night of comedy and music honoring the life of Jennifer Orr. Jenn had a nearly two-decade struggle with mental health and addiction issues, which tragically culminated in her taking her own life in November of 2022. Jennifer was so much more than her struggles, though. She was an avid supporter of the local music scene as well as a member of the local comedy and burlesque scenes. She was a staunch and fearless advocate for the causes she cared about and loved helping people. This event will combine three of Jenn’s passions: music, comedy, and giving back.
Buffalo has for too long had a lack of viable options for those struggling with mental health, addiction, and the intersection of these two areas. Thankfully, the Kirsten Vincent Respite & Recovery Center has helped in answering that call since opening in April of 2023. The center, operated by Recovery Options Made Easy (ROME), supports crisis stabilization and continued recovery. Creating this first-of-its-kind model in New York State proves much more effective and cost-efficient than the traditional hospital stay, benefiting all of Western New York. This innovative model of recovery has allowed individuals a safe space of calm to regroup and recover. In addition, it’s important that this facility opened in East Buffalo, as there are clear racial disparities in access to mental healthcare across the country, but especially in a city as segregated as Buffalo. Proceeds from ticket sales and prizes at the event will benefit ROME’s respite programs in the Kirsten Vincent Respite & Recovery Center.
Performer Bios:
Caitlin Peluffo: Originally hailing from San Francisco, CA, Caitlin Peluffo is a comedian based in NYC. After a brief six year stint in art school studying performative video art (no, really…that’s a thing) Caitlin expanded her talents to the stage. She’s opened for comedians, Maria Bamford, Fortune Feimster, Matteo Lane, and Brian Regan. She’s been featured everywhere from the world famous Comedy Cellar in the Big Apple to clubs nationwide talking about how she came to be such a lovable loose cannon.
Caitlin has been featured on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Late Late Show with James Corden, After Midnight, 2022’s Just For Laughs Festival, and has hosted her weekly podcast, Good Time Gal with Caitlin Peluffo for over three years. She has also been featured on Comedy Central’s “Featuring” series, and has a Don’t Tell Comedy Set with over 150k views on YouTube. With Caitlin, no subject is off limits, however, she did make a promise to her mother that she would never, ever discuss that one time she took those ‘whorish, yet tastefully executed’ photos for a guy she used to bang in the military. She may be a patriot, but a promise is a promise.
Grosh: “Grosh is an original, high energy rock band from Buffalo, NY. With influences from bands such as Led Zeppelin and Soundgarden, the band writes and performs music that is visceral, heavy and inspiring.”
deb: deb. is a new pop/indie rock band based in Buffalo, NY consisting of members Erik Corrie (formerly Animal Sounds), Dakota Lord (Slow Animals), John Perdue (Previous Love), and Brendan Orr (Slow Animals & Canetis). deb.’s sound combines its members’ mutual rock backgrounds with their love for R&B and pop music. They are in the midst of working on their debut release which is set to come out in 2025.
The Stripteasers are Buffalo's longest running Burlesque Troupe. “It all started at the legendary lesbian bar, Roxy’s back in early 2004,” said Jamie Doktor, one of the founding members of the exotic dance troupe, and who continues to perform to this day. “That was where they created a home for their seductive satire full of tongue in cheek humor, skits, comedy, music, drag, and every other queer performance art you could think of. Not only did these bar top lovelies perform every Thursday, they also took the show on the road from Tampa to Toronto, as well as many local theaters and venues. Even after Roxy’s closed, The Stripteasers were still reigning supreme and quickly made a new home at Nietzsche’s in Allentown where they are still performing every Tuesday night. Through the years they have inspired and nurtured the growing burlesque scene in Buffalo. And even now, after 20 years, the OG’s of Buffalo Burlesque are still bumping and grinding throughout the year with fabulous shows for Pride, the Infringement Festival, Halloween, and everything in-between.”
