The Comeback Kids! The spectacular rise, fall and modern resurrections of four Kentucky Bourbon brands
A Bourbon Tasting Event hosted by Phil Talks Whiskey in Elizabethtown, KY

We'll taste through a lineup of historic brands that overcame 20th-century closures due to fire, Prohibition, or failed the test of time. We will also discuss the history, legends, and the liquid lore of some of Kentucky bourbon's most celebrated resurrected legacy brands. All while enjoying pours in E-town featuring brands that have survived a century-long journey from ruins back to the rickhouse!

🥃 Thursday, June 18th | 7:00 PM - 8:15 PM
📍 Treadwell Society
24 Public Square Elizabethtown KY 42701

Everyone loves a good underdog. This bourbon tasting features brands that were once down and out but are now back on the shelf! A long lost family connection, inheritance from an eccentric uncle perhaps or returning a brand to prominence after prohibition - these bourbons are doing the work bottle by bottle.

The Mission: Join Phil Kollin for an interactive whiskey tasting featuring once defunct bourbon brands that are now back on the shelf in 2026!

What’s on the tasting mat? We'll enjoy the following four pours over the course of the evening:

  • Green River Wheated Full Proof Bourbon
  • Neeley Bottled-In-Bond Four Grain Bourbon
  • Kentucky Peerless Double Oak Bourbon
  • W.H. McBrayer Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Barrel Strength

What to Expect:

  • Scintillating Stories: Hear the "Legends and Lore" behind the labels and their current day iterations.
  • Hot Takes & Strong Pours: Along with some fascinating whiskey history, expect wit, wonder, and a handful of "shattered myths" along the way.
  • No Shushing, Just Sipping: This ain't no library. Expect a lively, interactive session where your palate is the guest of honor. Questions are highly encouraged, opinions are welcome (no matter how hot the take), and we’ll be debating the nuances of every pour together.
  • The Full Spread: Your tasting station comes fully loaded: tasting mats, pens for your "field notes," water to keep the palate pristine. We’re also throwing in some decadent bourbon chocolates, a few giveaways, and maybe even a surprise or two.

Whether you're a seasoned sipper or a curious newcomer, come discover your new favorite everyday dram. Every sip tells a story—let’s find out which one speaks to you.

Limited spots available in this intimate venue! Grab your seat today before they're gone.
