THE CITY SINNERS PLAY GRAM PARSONS AND EMMYLOU HARRIS (featuring ‘Elite Hotel). The City Sinners reformed in 2024 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of ‘Grievous Angel’, the first official GramEmmylou collaboration. It was intended as a one off idea, but such was its success, that they have been persuaded to keep the show on the road, and this new project features all of Emmylou’s 1976 album ‘Elite Hotel’, in addition to a selection of songs associated with both Gram and Emmylou.
The band is fronted by critically acclaimed singer-songwriters John Hinshelwood and Louise McAtee. Guitarist Iain Barbour is an in-demand session player, with Jason Ringenberg and Jim Lauderdale among his collaborators, and Malcolm McMaster is one of Scotland’s top pedal steel players, having worked with Laura Cantrell, Chip Taylor, and Martin Stephenson. Bass player David McKee, is currently with The Wynntown Marshals, one of Scotland’s premier Americana outfits, and drummer Frank McHugh has toured extensively throughout the USA and Europe, including a stint with Big Sur, whose ‘Please Stay’ was a Radio One single of the week.
