The Grayston Unity presents The Celtic Social Club with support from Amy Jo.
The Celtic Social Club is a Franco-Irish band blending Celtic roots with folk and rock energy. Known for their powerful live shows, the band turns every concert into a shared experience — a relentless dance floor driven by a raw Celtic soul.
A long anniversary tour, an extensive best-of, a brand-new singer from Dublin... and now a fifth album that hits hard. The Celtic Social Club has never sounded as bold and direct as on
YOU SHOULD KNOW (AZTEC/PIAS).
Convinced by their explosive live power, British producer Nick Davis (Genesis, The Pogues, Björk, XTC) was determined to capture that raw energy on record. The band went back to
basics: playing and arranging all together, in the same room, old-school. A simple yet decisive idea that shaped the album.
At bassist Richard Puaud’s studio near Poitiers — their creative home base for years — the Franco-Irish band recorded ten tracks that are both raw and sophisticated. Punchy vocals, razor-sharp songwriting, inventive bass lines, chiming twelve-string electric guitars, glittering fiddles, and unstoppable beats. A youthful confidence that makes them sound more ‘British’
than ever — while remaining fully themselves.
With YOU SHOULD KNOW, The Celtic Social Club gradually moves away from traditional Breton, Irish, or Scottish themes to explore new musical territories. Inspired by tradition but eager to take it elsewhere, the seven Franco-Irish musicians shape an international Celtic pop infused with rock and indie-folk.
“I don’t like Celtic music — but you guys are different,” is something they often hear after
shows. Point taken.
Somewhere between The Clash, The Pogues, The Waterboys, and Fontaines D.C., The Celtic Social Club now affirms a unique sound, a coherent story, and a powerful album ready to take them to the next level.
In France as well as in the UK, YOU SHOULD KNOW stands as both an obvious step forward
— and a fresh new start.
