It’s time for another Casual Dram, and this time we’ll be taking a look at distillation rates - with double, partial-triple and triple distilled whiskies all making an appearance. If you’ve ever looked at the flow chart for partial triple distillation, you’ll know that this sort of thing can be pretty complex!
But fear not, I promise we won’t be getting too scientific - and we’ll taste an interesting mix of official and independently bottled crackers, across a multitude of ages from some all-time fave distilleries; Mortlach, Benrinnes, Bunnahabhain and Amrut.
Here’s the lineup…
Bunnahabhain 12 years old 2023 Cask Strength Edition 60.1% (Sherry casks) WB 87.27
Mortlach 'Signatory Symington's Choice' 2007 / 17 years old #205 56.6% (1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Butt Finish) WB 88.23
Benrinnes Adelphi 13 years old 55.5% (1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Hogshead) WB 88.19
Amrut Triparva Triple Distilled 50% (casks as yet unknown) WB 87.19
Mystery whisky WB 88.11
I hope you can join me for another tilt at five tip top drams!
