The Carpenter Ants Long-running West Virginia-based roots-rock/country-soul band formed in the mid-1980s, known for their rich harmonies, stinging solos, and high-energy performances. With over 3,000 shows, the group has toured internationally (including three trips to Moscow), backed various artists, and released multiple albums produced by Don Dixon, defining a "loose-but-tight" Appalachian soul sound.
Spurgie Hankins
In 1968 Spurgie joined a group called, Seven Seas. The band toured the east coast and mid-west. The band shared the stage with Sly and the Family Stone, Little Richard, the Holding Company, and many others.
The Spurgie Hankins Band became a mainstay in the West Virginia music scene for many years. Hankins took a hiatus from performing live and is looking forward to again sharing his live performance talents with audiences.
