Carla Holbrook Bio:
At the age of nineteen, Carla moved to Jacksonville and began playing in clubs with the likes of Ron Perry and Richard Smith of 80's band China Sky. In 2000, she toured the U.S. performing at various venues and aboard The Grand Princess cruise ship.
Music brought Carla to San Francisco in 2004 where she teamed up with Keith Kane (Vertical Horizon), Matthew Charles Heulitt (The Narada Michael Walden Band, Zigaboo Modeliste's New Aahkesstra) and Salvador Santana (The Salvador Santana Band). It was here Carla signed on as lead vocalist for the Salvador Santana Band. From 2004 until 2006 the band toured as the supporting act for Grammy award winning Carlos Santana. During the European tour (2006), Carla joined as Carlos Santana's female guest vocalist and continued to share the stage with Santana on several other occasions in California. Both the North American and European tours had her touring with The Los Lonely Boys, Ozomatli, as well as Robert Randolph and the Family Band.
In between tours, Carla recorded with Salvador Santana and Carlos Santana at Fantasy Studios with famed engineer Stephen Hart (Santana, Green Day, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bill Evans, Journey, Aerosmith. BB King, U2, En Vogue). Carla worked for many other studios in the bay area as a session vocalist and collaborated with many musicians.
Since returning to the Stuart area, Carla has been playing all around Florida. She has also been involved with several professional theater productions such as Little Shop of Horrors (Crystal), Dolly Parton's role in 9 to 5: The Musical (Doralee), Cabaret (sailor), and most recently Gypsy (Louise). Most recently in 2023, she recorded the backup vocals on Taj Mahal’s latest album, Savoy and performed 4 sold out shows in San Francisco at SF Jazz.
Rick Moore bio:
Rick played the organ, clarinet and drums as a child and began performing professionally after graduating from high school. He studied classical piano and jazz improvisation with several notable teachers in the tri-state area.
In 1986, Rick relocated to the Palm Beach area and resumed performing long-term engagements in exclusive restaurants and country clubs. He participated in concert performances @ the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, Lyric Theater, Arts Garage & Watchung Arts Center (NJ).
In 2012, He founded the Jupiter Jazz Society and began hosting Sunday Jazz & Jam events with his trio. These events are continuing in 2026. Rick is a full-time pianist and freelances with numerous bands and musicians, and as a soloist. He mainly works out of the Great American Songbook repertoire but is comfortable in other genres.
Val Shaffer bio:
Val Shaffer, grew up in southern Indiana, and picked up the bass guitar in the early 80's, at age 14. Within a few years, he went on to play with professional rock bands in the area, and in 1991 moved to San Diego. There, he honed his playing working with Blues, Funk, and R&B groups, ebefore moving to Los Angeles, in 1995.
Once in LA, he added the acoustic upright bass to his arsenal, and became active in all genres of music, with a strong emphasis on jazz. After a break from music, (2002-2007) Val moved to NYC, (in 2008) and again became active in Jazz through 2011.
Currently, Val resides in South Florida, and is again pursuing music full time. Over the years, he has had the pleasure of performing with: Kofi Baker, Oscar Brown Jr., Copeland Davis, Chuck Flores, Tamir Hendelman, Phil Hinton, Ralph Lalama, Robert Navarro, and Donald Vega, among others.
