The evening will feature the Mack family as they share their recent pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago, an ancient Christian route that ends at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
In the winter of 2023, the Macks embarked on what they came to call La Gran Aventura — a 6‑month, 25,000‑mile journey across the United States, Mexico, and Europe, culminating in their 500‑mile walk along the Camino de Santiago. Their purpose was not simply to travel, but to learn what it means to be pilgrims.
They hoped to:
-Strengthen their family as they faced challenges together
- Slow down and pay attention to beauty
- Seek sacred experiences
- Connect with others along the way
- Trust that God would show them the path
As author Phil Cousineau writes in The Art of Pilgrimage, a tourist focuses on the destination, but a pilgrim focuses on the journey. If it rains on vacation, we may feel disappointed. A pilgrim understands that even the rain is part of the sacred walk.
This was not a vacation. It was sacred travel.
Through stories, reflections, and photography from their journey, the Mack family will share what they learned about faith, resilience, family unity, and what it truly means to “walk with God.”
