Winners of the 2014 Avery Fisher Career Grant the Calder Quartet is renowned for championing new music commissioning and premiering works by leading composers such as Peter Eötvös Andrew Norman Christopher Rouse and Ted Hearne. Their commitment to discovery and collaboration extends to performances of Beethoven and Bartók cycles and to projects with artists across genres including Vampire Weekend The National and Lord Huron.
The ensemble has appeared at major venues and festivals worldwide — from Carnegie Hall Disney Hall and Lincoln Center to Wigmore Hall Salzburg Festival and the Sydney Opera House — and has performed with orchestras including the Cleveland Orchestra and Los Angeles Philharmonic.
