ABOUT THE ARTISTS
TRACEY HAMMELL
Sultry blues-country-rock singer-songwriter Tracey Hammell relishes collaboration between pen and guitar to tell the most intriguing stories … a chance meeting in the traditional organic world; what unfolds when a sentient robot’s heart is broken; the ambiguity of life\'s choices … Tracey’s songs are familiar and unexpected, all at once.
KEEPING NORTH
Think Robert Plant & Alison Krauss meets The Delines with Joe Tex standing in the corner, and you will have some idea about the new music of Keeping North. A hypnotic blend of contemporary folk, country soul and Americana -- but decidedly Australian.
The band’s new songs are from the pen of highly regarded writer Steve Tyson, about whom respected music critic Noel Mengel (Courier Mail / Loudmouth) previously had this to say…these are songs that are built to last. And Ian Dearden (Trad & Now) added …a master songwriter.
Featuring the stunning vocals of Jodi Murtha, either upfront or in duet mode with Steve, Keeping North brings together some experienced heads and fresh thinking in a set of classic new songs.
The band has just released its debut single, the first in a series, culminating in an album release later in 2024. And of course, hitting the stage live to deliver the new tunes, plus an interesting twist on a selection of covers, is what it’s all about.
Jodi Murtha - vocals, bass guitar
Steve Tyson - vocals, acoustic & electric guitars, mandolin
Ian Shawsmith - guitars
Jeff Spencer - pedal steel, dobro
Stu Hoffman - drums, vocals
