The Broken Hearts were formed as a tribute to Tom Petty following his passing in October 2017, created by former Tom Petty and Mudcrutch bandmate Charlie Souza and singer/songwriter Shawn Scheller. Initially a temporary project, the band's heartfelt performances led to continuous requests to honor Tom Petty’s legacy. In 2018, they officially became a touring tribute band, paying respect to Petty’s life and music.
