CECIL SHARP AND THE ORAL TRADITIONS OF OXFORDSHIRE AND THE WEST COUNTRY£20
TWO PERFORMANCES: 16:30 & 19:00
Cecil Sharp was first inspired to collect material from the oral tradition by his encounter with the Headington Morris men outside the Chequers pub in Headington in 1899. Sharp’s own arrangements (both from Oxfordshire and Somerset) are presented on traditional instruments of Sharp’s day (concertina, keyboard, violin), together with more contemporary arrangements of our own (using guitar, hurdy-gurdy, banjo).
