Sens. Alex Padilla and Todd Young will discuss their bipartisan work on U.S. security amid rapid biotech advances and growing competition.
About this Event

Why is emerging biotechnology important to U.S. national security?

Sens. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) and Todd Young (R-Ind.) will share how they’re working together with their colleagues on the National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology (NSCEB) to ensure the U.S. maintains its global leadership and strong national security posture as rapid advancements in biotech pose new opportunities and risks.

In this installment of The Bridge series on Feb. 26, the senators will discuss the emerging biotechnology developments that are bringing academics, industry leaders, and members from both sides of the aisle together to keep America safe, secure, and definitively ahead in the biotech race with China. They’ll also discuss key policy recommendations for prioritizing biotechnology and preserving U.S. global leadership and economic security. The discussion will be moderated by Tom Inglesby, director of the Center for Health Security at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Light fare and refreshments will be provided.
