Hi everyone!Its that time again!!
World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.
In honour of this day, we at The Brandon Gunpat Foundation would like to host our Annual Beach clean-up exercise. This year, we would like to know from you, what beaches you have seen that you believe needs this exercise, and would you participate?
This year, the 10th October falls on a Thursday, so our tentative date for this wonderful exercise is on Saturday 5th October 2024.
Tidbit: Why does sea air make you feel better?
Sea air is full of negative ions – these are charged particles abundant in sea spray, which, research suggests, improve our ability to absorb oxygen. Being by (and in) the ocean increases your happy hormones. Often called the happy hormone, dopamine is a key chemical messenger within our inbuilt reward system, with a lack of dopamine contributing to mood disorders such as depression and anxiety.
So by doing this exercise we would be handling two important functions at once! 🙂
Please tell us in the comments which beach you would like us to have this clean-up at, and would you attend? Looking forward to your much needed support!
Yours truly,
The Brandon Gunpat Foundation
