The Bowersock Mills & Power Company is 150 years old this year! We are holding a “Friendsgiving” to celebrate and to thank the many people in our community (and across the US) who have been an integral part of ensuring that Bowersock could continue generating clean, renewable power for Kansans through 15 decades. We hope you will join us on Sunday, November 24th (the Sunday before Thanksgiving) from 3:00 – 6:00 at the Bowersock South Powerhouse. We’ll have live music thanks to family member Lyle Griggs, light food and libations, and will offer tours of both powerhouses as a part of the event.
There are two key entities that we would like to recognize at our Friendsgiving – Friends of the Kaw, our treasured river protection group that is dedicated to advocating for the Kansas River, and the Watkins Museum of History, which is our incredible community museum that has documented so much of Bowersock and Lawrence history.
