The Boondocks: A Tribute to Classic Country
Hank Williams, Glen Campbell, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Gram Parsons, Merle Haggard, John Prine, Townes Van Zandt…
"I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry," "Wichita Lineman," "Love Hurts," "Always on My Mind," "Help Me Make It Through the Night," "Brass Buttons"…
These are just some of the names and songs that have built the foundations of country music and the craft of great songwriting. Classic country bears little resemblance to today's pop-country hits; instead, it delves into the big emotions: tortured romance, despair, hard work, heartbreak, and hard-won truths. Hats and trucks may be missing, but the timeless power of these songs continues to speak to the heart.
With beautiful melodies, touching words, soaring harmonies, and intricate solos, great country music stands closer to its bluegrass roots than the pop scene. It’s music that survives because it speaks the truth.
The Boondocks—featuring Anthony Toner (vocals, electric and acoustic guitar, lap-steel), Mark Crockard (vocals, acoustic guitar), and Marcus McAuley (acoustic guitar, mandolin)—come together to honor these traditions. Playing the old-school country songs they love, they hope to share that passion with you.
Curated and produced by Music Capital, Lúmináre showcases the beauty of the maiden city by hosting events in some of its most iconic buildings and unique locations.
