
STRAUSS AT 200 – An Evening of Austrian Classics
To commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of the celebrated Austrian Waltz King, Johann Strauss II and to mark the Austrian National Day 2025, the Bombay Chamber Orchestra presents a special concert of music by Austrian composers including the compositions of Johann Strauss II.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the drama and melody of masterpieces by Mozart, Haydn and Schubert. Sway to the lilting rhythm of Strauss’s waltzes and polkas.
The performance will be conducted by Austrian conductor, Maestro Jörg Zwicker and will include a selection of operatic arias sung by Deirdre Lobo (Soprano).
Austrian conductor, Jörg Zwicker, has performed with different ensembles all over Europe, as well as in the USA, Ukraine and India. He is guest conductor of several orchestras in Europe and has worked with major conductors such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Nicholas McGegan, Fabio Luisi and Erwin Ortner. In 1992 he founded the internationally renowned professional baroque orchestra Capella Leopoldina with which he toured extensively throughout the continent, performing at major festivals and concert stages across Europe. In addition to giving masterclasses all over Europe, he also teaches at the University of Music Graz and the Department of Early Music at the Konservatorium University of Vienna.
