Our annual well-dressing celebration. We open our doors at 12:00noon and should be winding up around 5:00pm. The blessing of the well takes place at 1:00pm. Water is the connection that binds us all, from our ancestors, to our children, it flows through our lives and through our bodies. This year’s blessing of the well will be given by Avril Banks, a Druid of many years, who has worked bringing people together in a greater understanding of water and the earth. Formerly a marine biologist, she mixes her love of science with the magic of the universe to bring a unique view of our place in the world. The blessing honour the well, its history and its connection with us all and the waters of the world.
In the chapel, we will be serving hot and cold drinks, cake and Prosecco. Outside in the gardens, there will be lots going on. You can meet the alpacas (and have a chance to feed and walk them). The Stockport Silver Band and Stockport Ukulele Players will be performing, and Fidlers Fancy with traditional morris dancing. There will be stalls selling locally grown plants, second-hand books, cards, paintings, crafts, Chadkirk Comfrey Oil and Chadkirk Elderflower Cordial. Local community groups will also be taking part; there will be a making and crafting stall and, of course, a tombola!
