Playhouse Arts, in partnership with the Humboldt County Library, is pleased to announce the Big Read Kick-Off, a new program funded by the National Endowment for the Arts Big Read!
Join us for the Kick-off of The Big Read at the Arcata Playhouse. Come and pick up a free copy of the selected book “You Are Here: Poetry in the Natural World” anytime from 1-2:30 at the Arcata Playhouse, and get ready for a year-long community literature program that will offer discussions, writing workshops, and performances to inspire dialogue around this shared literary work, as well as creative activities that explore our relationship with the physical environment.
Edited and introduced by the 24th Poet Laureate of the United States, Ada Limón, this book features 50 poems from some of the nation’s most accomplished poets that engage with the forests, parks, valleys, waterways, canyons, mountains, backyards, scenic overlooks and built environments of their local landscapes.
