Thursday, August 1, 2024. The Hastings Lifeboat Crew is hosting a FREE concert to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
It’s not just a concert - it is a historic occasion, marking two centuries of lifesaving courage and dedication.

At 14:45 Section 5 Drummers will lead a procession from Butler's Gap to The Stade for the official opening ceremony of Hastings Old Town Carnival week.
The concert will showcase some of the best local talent including (in order of appearance):
- Martin Bruce and the Rye Harbour Herrings performing a sea shanty specially written for the 200th anniversary of the RNLI;
- HOT Ukulele Group bringing their enthusiastic ukulele playing and singing of popular songs;
- Hannah’s Cat Morris performing traditional English folk dance;
- Tom Kelly singing from his repertoire of folk, gospel and songs from the sea;
- Tap on Tap performing a lively and energetic tap routine specially devised for the anniversary of the RNLI;
- Pett Slip Buoys singing sea shanties;
- Sambalanco playing Brazilian carnival rhythms with a Hastings twist.
Local giants, Mr Fishy and Friends, will be at The Stade to entertain the crowds and dance along to the music and drumming.

There is a unique moment at 18:24 not to be missed! Renegade Pyrotechnics will mark the anniversary with 200 maroons, followed by an interactive moment with Hastings Lifeboat Crew where everyone can participate.
We are delighted that this concert marks the start of Hastings Old Town Carnival Week and brings together amazing community performers to help us celebrate this landmark event.
All donations from the event will support the incredible ongoing work of the RNLI, helping to ensure that our lifeboat crews can continue to save lives at sea.
