The Beauty of What Remains
Recently I created an event for Mother’s Day: a photo booth experience celebrating moms. I thought to do it this year because this is the 40th anniversary of my own mom’s death - the 40th year I’ve experienced a motherless Mother’s Day.
And with the same heart and to honor her sweet memory, I am hosting a gathering for those navigating this holiday without their mom, whether she has passed away or is simply absent.
I’m opening my studio to gather, share food, and simply be with others who understand. No need to pretend. No need to explain.
For those who would like one, I will offer a complimentary simple portrait: just you and a chair. A few photos taken and later shared digitally.
If you’d like to bring a memento, something that reminds you of her, that’s cool. But you can also just show up, be with women who understand and be photographed or not.
You are welcome to simply come and be held by the presence of other women who understand.
