TL;DR: I could really use some help with the haunt build. I'm bad at lot of things. Dancing (unless it's Elaine from Seinfeld style), using plastic wrap or packing tape, knowing the appropriate amt of pasta to cook for two people, and asking for help.
I'm doing so now. I've always been reticent in asking for the community's help because I don't want to potentially ruin the magic of the final result, but if you'd like to see the work and inevitable chaos that goes into the haunt build, or have a thing for weeding and need platonic enablement, then I could really really really really use the help.
This year has been... interesting. I'm on the fourth planting of the corn maze because of a very persistent rat that doesn't understand boundaries. Or sharing. Or how the ice he's currently on is as thin as the polar ice caps I'm about to ship him to.
I also have a connective tissue disorder that isn't really conducive to this hobby on a good day, and I'm working past my limits.
As for kids, absolutely welcome. They are the reason we do this to begin with and letting kids pretty much run the show made our haunt better than we'd ever imagined. Also they seemed to know what they were doing more than I did. Buuut I might need to restrict access to the backyard. The corn is still young and vulnerable and can't deal with any more accidental trampling than what I subject it to every day. And walking the trail right now is like walking the parapet in Fourth Wing. There are plenty of fun artsy, prop projects that can be done in the front that come with a lower mortality rate.
I just had the idea before I began writing this , but will iron out the minutiae in the next few days. No pressure, obviously!
