27th May 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the start of the Battle of Goose Green, the first decisive land battle of the Falklands Conflict.Lieutenant Colonel H Jones, Commanding Officer 2 PARA, was killed in action leading a bayonet charge and was awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross.
Goose Green was the first major battle that the British Army had fought in for a generation - and came very close to defeat.
Follow the battle from the perspective of a Yorkshire Paratrooper who fought in it. Peter Kennedy led the final attack on Goose Green under heavy enemy fire; he was Second-in-Command of C Company, 2 PARA, and took over the Company in the closing stages of the battle when his Company Commander was wounded.
The talk is open to the public and is illustrated with photos, videos and maps to bring the story to life.
All money raised through the event will be split between ABF The Soldiers' Charity, Support Our Paras, The Royal British Legion, and Sue Ryder (Palliative, Neurological and Bereavement Support).
