A committed 8 week class series on Thursday nights from 7-8:30pm exploring the fundamentals of Contact Improvisation. Open to all levels, but designed for those new or brand new to Contact. Class series runs 4/3 to 5/22.The Basics of Contact
This eight week class series is a playful, curious, and focused exploration of the fundamental principles and perspectives of Contact Improvisation (CI) as interpreted and facilitated by Daniel Mollner. You will learn 5 basic elements helpful to following any point(s) of contact as well as safer structures and approaches for weight exchange. There will be helpful tips for going in and out of connection, how to begin and end a dance, and some of the fascinating history of this revolutionary, ever-evolving movement inquiry. Designed for those new or brand new to CI but open to all levels of experience. Daniel has been teaching this formless "form" for over 20 years and is a passionate, professional movement educator and community builder.

Contact Improvisation is an embodied exploration that can be done solo or with others. It explores movement, stillness, going in and out of touch, and shared weight shifting/exchange from barely perceptible to full body. It's up to each individual. You are always at choice! Follow your curiosity and pleasure while listening to and respecting the body-based cues (or verbal requests) of others. Please take 100% responsibility for your experience and your own health and safety.
Bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing that you can move in. Please no jeans, belt buckles, wrist watches, bracelets, or other jewelry that can snag or poke. This is a consent-based space. Every BODY is unique. All are welcome, especially People of Color, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Same-Gender Loving People, seniors, and neurodiverse. Whatever your shape, size, age, or ability you are welcome and wanted here!
