The Band of HM Royal Marines Collingwood is one of five Royal Marines Bands that provides musical support and military capability to the Royal Navy, Defence, and the United Kingdom.High-profile commitments in the UK include Royal Weddings, the Invictus Games, the British Grand Prix, the Mountbatten Festival of Music at the Royal Albert Hall and Beating Retreat on Horse Guards Parade. Most recently, the band was the Guard of Honour during the funeral of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and part of the Coronation Procession of His Majesty King Charles III. Foreign commitments include visits to Romania, Tokyo, Chile South Korea and the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, Canada.
The band is held at readiness for its Operational role on the Primary Casualty Receiving Facility. Their main role is to provide assistance in various medical tasks as part of the deployed hospital facility.
As well as Defence Engagement and Operational roles, the band performs to raise money for charities, to promote music education and opportunities, and in various musical combinations for events. Its world-famous Corps of Drums frequently perform at various events and with famous artists including Queen and Adam Lambert, Take That and Nicko McBrain from Iron Maiden. The band’s renowned versatility enables it to perform as a concert, parade, function, street, and big band as well as in numerous smaller ensembles.
