About this Event
Founded in 1932, The Bach Society of Minnesota was one of the first in North America to take the legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach as an exclusive starting point by featuring the timeless music of the great composer and those he inspired. Most of Vivaldi’s sacred music was written for the La Pietà in Venice, where orphan girls created a musical sensation with their spectacular performances of the composer’s music. People flocked to Venice from all over Europe to hear (and see!) Vivaldi’s angels. Our concert features the famous Gloria and Magnificat in its originally intended brilliant sound with an entirely female cast of singers, and Bach’s gorgeous cantata for soprano and solo trumpet Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen, written like a concerto in the Italian style.
