The Aurora Singers are opening up Auditions for our 50th anniversary year!
The Aurora Singers were founded in 1977, dazzling audiences with show choir and muscial theater performanes. Each concert includes full group numbers as well as the opportuinty to perform solo and group selections. We sing and dance, have a full sound system and individual mics, and perform with the three-piece band as well.
We are accepting of ages 21+, all bodies, genders, races, and orientations. The Aurora Singers are truly a family, with members anywhere from 27 to 79, with tenure from 2 to 36 years!
We have 4 shows per year and rehearse every Tuesday 7-9:30 PM at the Hope United Methodist Church (where our auditions are!)
New member dues are $175 the first year and $150 per year after which includes all rehearsal spaces, performing spaces, a summer retreat, sheet music, a branded choir folder, and our basic costume.
50th anniversary season shows:
October Show:"50 years of the Aurora Singers" - October 3 & 4, Tech: 9/28, 9/29 and Thursday 10/1
Regular rehearsals: 8/4, 8/11, 8/18, 8/25, 9/1, 9/8, 9/15, 9/22
* We are working to plan our annual retreat in late July where we will get to know each other better and learn some of our fall show music
December show: "An Aurora Singers Christmas" - December 5 & 6, Tech: 11/30, 12/1 and Friday 12/4
Regular rehearsals 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/13, 11/10, 11/17, 11/24
March show: "California Dreamin'" - March 6 & 7, Tech: 3/1, 3/2, and Friday 3/5
Regular rehearsals: 1/5, 1/12, 1/19, 1/26, 2/2, 2/9, 2/16, 2/23
*We are hoping to travel to California and perform our show at Disneyland! More to come!
May show: Broadway + 'The Music Man' - May 8 & 9, Tech: 5/3, 5/4, and Friday 5/7
Regular rehearsals: 3/9, 3/16, 3/23, 3/30, 4/6, 4/13, 4/20, 4/27
THAT'S RIGHT! We will be doing a newly licensed 60 minute version of The Music Man for the second act of our show. We will hold auditions for roles at a later time, but you are guaranteed a spot in the performance if you are an Aurora singer!
Audition details
Please prepare 30 to 60 seconds of a song in your vocal range. Musical theater or contemporary song preferred. We sing both upbeat songs and slow ballads to take your pick!
Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in and fill out your audition form. Headshot and résumé welcome but not required. We just wanna get to know you!
