About this Event

Understand corners of Gorhambury that have inspired one of Hertfordshires most respected and prolific artists and two new creative businesses - Dione Verulam's wallpaper and Gorhambury Interiors.

Gorhambury House has provided Rosie Grimston with a decade of interior design experience and a ready-made portfolio to launch her new interior design business. Asked at the outset what she was trying to achieve at Gorhambury, the answer “Chatsworth but on a budget”. Rosie used the existing collection to form the framework for the rooms, added twentieth century or newly commissioned works to fill the gaps. She was acutely aware of the social history of the house and enjoyed weaving this into the design of the rooms. Take a tour with Rosie and learn onsite, first-hand how the schemes developed for each room. Follow this with a short trip down the drive to Lady Verulam’s art studio. Situated in a former outhouse at Maynes Farm this is the hub for Dione’s production of collages, prints, oils and watercolours; wallpaper and fabric designs. Dione often has art exhibitions, and her inspiration for all artistic output come from Gorhambury, family and travel.

Arriving by car: Access from M1 (Junction 8) and M25 (Junction 21a). Please enter AL3 6AE into your GPS for the entrance at the Roman Theatre off Bluehouse Hill. Once at the gate enter AL3 6AH for the house, where there is ample parking.
