About this Event
Artists , and join together for a discussion chaired by Christine Lai (Public Programme Curator, William Morris Gallery) which delves into the personal mythologies that inspire each of their artistic practices.
The panel will be exploring how mythology can support personal understanding of identities and philosophies, with a particular focus on East Asian and Southeast Asian cultural heritage. As well as the relevance of mythology and folklore today, and how these artists are translating myths and stories visually within their practices.
At the end of the talk the audience will be invited to share myths and stories which feel personally significant to their identity and heritage.
This event has been developed in collaboration with Bow Arts for the East London Art Prize programme. The East London Art Prize is an all-media art prize designed to showcase the talent of artists working and living in east London, with an accompanying event programme supporting artists' careers and opportunities.
This event coincides with London College of Fashion, UAL's first major exhibition at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford. The exhibition features the work of Woo Jin Joo in the main gallery and will be open to view before the talk starts. Find out more about the exhibition, here.

Getting here: nearest tube stations are Stratford and Hackney Wick, parking for bicycles is available outside the building, there is street level access. Please note that Blue Badge Parking will be available from January 2024, there are 15 Blue Badge parking spaces at the London Aquatic Centre on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The building has step free access and is wheelchair accessible, the talk will be amplified via the speaker system in the lecture hall.
