About this Event
Before any classroom instruction begins, the culture of our homes already propose a vision of reality. The rhythms of family life—how time is spent, what is celebrated, what is remembered, and what is discussed—quietly shape a child’s understanding of the world.
What might it look like to recover a different rhythm within the home? A life defined less by busyness and more by leisure in the classical sense—time spent pursuing the highest things that life has to offer.
In this lecture, Dr. Timothy O’Malley (University of Notre Dame) will explore how practices of leisure within family life can cultivate wonder, memory, conversation, and gratitude for the world.
This lecture is hosted by the Valor Institute for Studies of the Person and Community, which hosts academic retreats, symposia, and lectures to promote a capacious vision of the human person flourishing in authentic community.
