About this Event
Most recently serving as Director of the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., Dr. Sajet is someone we are excited and honored to welcome to both the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Woman’s Club of Wisconsin.
Many of the world’s most flourishing cities are placing art, design, and creativity at the center of how they reimagine the ways people live, work, and play. From adaptive reuse of overlooked spaces to artist-led placemaking and cultural investment, creativity is increasingly understood not as a luxury, but as essential civic infrastructure—fueling economic vitality, social connection, and innovation.
Drawing on global examples—and placing them in the context of Milwaukee’s ambitions to be one of America’s leading cities for innovation and investment—Dr. Sajet will show how the art museum, in partnership with artists and the creative economy, can contribute measurable economic impact while also strengthening community identity and belonging.
