On March 14, Nyla House becomes a rare kind of room. One built for people who live here, create here, and have been quietly craving real connection. This is not a typical event. It is a donation based gathering designed to make space for artists, creatives, neighbors, and anyone who has been feeling a little disconnected and is ready to be in community again.
Hosted by the poetry group Black Canvas in collaboration with the Brooklyn Art Meetup, the evening begins with melodic music to ease everyone in, followed by a curated poetry showcase featuring powerful voices, and then opens into an open mic where the mic belongs to the community. Whether you are sharing your work, supporting a friend, or simply listening, you are part of the night.
We will also have a Free Community Clothing Rack available throughout the evening. Browse, take what you need, contribute if you are able. This is mutual care, not charity. Food and drinks will be available at the bar, but the real value is the shared presence in the room.
This is a donation based event. Contributions help sustain accessible creative spaces like this, but no one is turned away for lack of funds. Your presence is the point. Your energy is what makes the room work.
