(DESCRIPTION)

"Unequivocally, the BEST show at the Hollywood Fringe this year."Gia On The Move

A “yogi” isn’t a skinny woman in Lululemon—it’s someone who renounces the world in pursuit of truth. Join award-winning artist and LMU professor Mayuri Bhandari and the formidable Goddess of Death, Kali, as they navigate the absurdities of Western Yoga culture. Liberation, Not Lululemon!

Fresh off winning awards at the Edinburgh and Hollywood Fringe, see this interactive revolution at LMU before its West End Premiere at Soho Theatre London this May. As a yoga professor, Mayuri navigates a twisty identity crisis: What is her purpose beyond educating people about yoga? Will the Goddess clear her path?

Blending dance, dramedy, poetry, and live percussion by COLA Fellow Neel Agrawal, THE ANTI ‘YOGI’ gives a much-needed voice to Yoga, calling out its recolonization and appropriation in the West and nationalization in the East—weaving together decolonization and community to reveal Yoga’s true ethos.

Come peel back the yoga mat and join the revolution!

PS. You don’t need to know anything about yoga to enjoy this show!
