7 miles - booking essential, T&Cs apply

A great walk along the Roaches, taking in the drama, beauty and mystery of this amazing ridge, and returning by the Black Brook valley and Ramshaw Rocks. We will visit the legendary Doxey Pool and other fascinating places, find out about the famous Roaches wallabies, and explore the history, legends, wildlife and landscape of this unique area. On a good day we will have fantastic views over the Cheshire Plain to the hills of North Wales and looking south to the hills of Shropshire.
As a bonus we climb 2 'Ethels'. If these are your first Ethels, there are 93 more high points in the Peak District for you to visit! Your Rangers will give you details.

Event Grade: Moderate - moderate walks on ground with sometimes rough and uneven terrain and gradients.

Event Terrain: A mix of rough moorland paths, grassy paths, stony tracks, a bit of light scrambling, with two ascents and descents, some of it steep. Much of the walk is on ridge paths which, while not precipitous, are rather exposed and exhilarating in wet, windy weather.

Meeting Point: Lay-by opposite Roaches Tea Room near Upper Hulme, Staffs.
