Congratulations! You've landed a sweet life in the land of plenty: Luxembourg. What could be funny about that?Let's face it, expat life isn't always what's it cracks up to be. From your annoying German neighbours who correct your English to the traffic and the fact you can never truly escape colleagues (they'll always find you in Auchan or on that Luxair Tours package holiday) Luxembourg loves to serve up a high standard of living with a micro dose of irritation.
To help unpack the first-world problems of living in the tiny grand duchy, we have invited four fabulous comedians for this our first stand up comedy show.
They will entertain you with their experiences on living in the duchy and answer your burning questions on expat life.
Artists:
MC: Jess Bauldry (UK/LUX)
Jess is a reformed people pleaser in progress, who co-founded Festrogen Festival in 2022 to build a more inclusive comedy scene in Luxembourg. She is part of the organisational committee behind Frilly Curtains, a women-run comedy club established in Luxembourg in 2023.
She wrote and performed for two different shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and is the founder of the Alternative Expat Guide to Luxembourg, a satirical blog and the inspiration for this comedy show.
Feature: Maria Carbonaro (RUS/FRA)
Maria Carbonaro is a Russian woman with a French passport, Italian husband, Jewish origins and Luxembourgish existential anxiety.
She talks about her struggle to recover from growing up in Russia, and about her search for meaning through changing countries , careers and hobbies. She lives in Luxembourg and has performed wherever her day job brought her on business trips - US, France , Belgium and the UK.
Feature: Amanda Bjorling (USA)
Former American farm girl turned expat librarian settled in Luxembourg after 10 years overseas just trying to make it through this life collecting flight miles and gym memberships.
Headliner: Sundeep (IND/LUX)
Sundeep was born in India, but now identifies as a Luxembourger. As required by law, he makes fun of the French, loves money, and has two hour lunch breaks. Sometimes, he “works”.
Sundeep is also a writer and actor, and recently had the pleasure of getting brutally murdered on a Netflix show, which made a lot of people very happy. Especially his ex-wife.
He has toured and performed all over Europe and India, including sold out shows at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where he was listed in the top 10 international comedians to watch.
Tickets cost €12 in advance or €15 on the door. Space is tight so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
Doors open at 19:30.
Why not grab a tasty meal at Le Croque Bedaine before the show? They do tasty cheese and charcuterie platters, their croque monsieurs are the stuff of legends and don't get me started on their fries!
