Seattle-based, award-winning composer Nelda Swiggett brings her five-piece chamber jazz ensemble to Port Townsend, Sequim and Port Angeles on Dec. 1-2 for a tour of her original work, βThe Alaska Suite: a story of beauty, loss and hope.β (TICKETS link for Port Townsend event above. Links to the other two performances are below.)This concert is a musical reverie on the tenuous beauty of the Arctic. But it is not just a concert. The performance engages the power of artistic expression β live music, spoken words, images and poetry β to connect audiences deeply and emotionally to the scientific realities of climate change. The Alaska Suite debuted in 2017, and has since inspired over 2000 people with its message of hope and call to action. Featuring Nelda Swiggett (compositions, piano, narrative, curated images), Julian Smedley (violin), Clif Swiggett (trombone), Chris Symer (bass), Adam Kessler (drums), and the poetry of Jill McGrath.
