About this Event
The Enduring Impact of the African Plant Diaspora, a free symposium and exhibition, will focus on the cultural and botanical legacies of the transported plants from Africa to the Americas during the Atlantic Slave Trade. The purpose is to generate scholarship and host a community conversation into this history and its legacy.
The symposium on April 26, 2025 is organized as a series of conversations, presentations, and performances, with a community dinner providing individual conversations. The exhibition from April 25-July 25, 2025, will feature illustrated books from the Lloyd Library & Museum, researched by Mark Harris, and Harris’ original artwork.
