This five-day workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to deepen their practical work on singing and/or acting.By exploring the intricate relationship between precision and organicity, the workshop aims to uncover the creative potential inherent in each participant, with a focus on action, singing, and the living voice.
Inspired by traditions that recognise an interconnectedness between song, action and an approach to the interiority of the human being, this workshop will guide participants step by step in a practice that interweaves impulse, voice, and action.
By delving into songs from Afro-Caribbean and African traditions, which have been at the core of Mr. Richards' performing arts research for over 35 years, participants will explore the potential impact that the vibrational, rhythmic and melodic qualities of a given song can have on the doing person.
Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to bring to the workshop their own songs and/or texts, to investigate their nature, and to explore the specific living and creative lines that these may hold for them.
