This is a gentle step-by-step approach to putting pen to paper and building up the courage to go out there and capture the urban scene. You’ll soon be hooked.
Here's what Steve had to say about a previous workshop: 'What a fantastic day! This was a birthday present and I think it was the best birthday present I've had, except of course the Scalextic when I was 10 years old! Not only was I able to sketch street scenes that were recognisable, but your encouragement and praise for everyone in the group soon made us lose any sense of self consciousness. The workshop starts with a short presentation on what urban sketching is all about and a preview of the day’s activities. When everyone is set we hit the streets and do a series of demonstrations and group exercises.
You’ll overcome your fear of drawing outside and build up some techniques that will set you on the road to becoming an urban sketcher.
We’ll break for lunch but this is not included in the fee. We might even have a mooch round an arts supply shop at lunchtime if anyone needs any advice.
We will meet at 10am sharp at Tib Street Studio, First Floor, 72 Tib Street, M4 1LG. Grab a coffee from a local cafe on your way in. (I'm sorry, there is no lift access to this venue).
I will kick off the workshop from here, from 10-11.
Bring your own materials. A pen and small sketchbook is all you need. If you have some watercolours that would be good. I’ll send more information once you've booked.
Cancellation Policy. If there is a waiting list and I can fill your place with someone else there will be no charge for cancelling. If there is no waiting list then: You can cancel upto four weeks before the event then no charge; two weeks before then a 50% refund; after that no refunds, sorry.
The £45 ticket price will have a small Eventbrite fee added.
If you’d really struggle with this fee but would love to attend, please get in touch. I may be able to discount a place or two.
