Based on the adventure novel and Alfred Hitchcock film of the same name, The 39 Steps follows Richard Hannay, a man bored with his life who happens to meet a beautiful woman claiming to be a spy. She warns him of a mysterious organization called “The 39 Steps” before she is murdered — and Hannay soon realizes that “The 39 Steps” are now after him! The play relies on the skills of four talented actors to portray more than 150 characters between them, bringing this parody of an old-fashioned detective story to life.Adapted by: Patrick Barlow
