Ian Jeffery Motorsport will host one of the most ambitious grassroots endurance motorsport events ever attempted when The 36 Hour Day takes over Wanneroo Raceway from 10–12 September 2026. Designed as a celebration of resilience, community spirit, and the power of mateship, the event will raise awareness and support for Alzheimer’s disease in honour of Pat Lawless, a beloved friend of Ian.
The 36 Hour Day expands on WA’s established endurance racing culture — pushing beyond the traditional 24‑hour format to a full 36 hours of continuous track action. The event will feature teams from across the state piloting budget-built endurance cars in a test of strategy, stamina, and mechanical grit.
Event organiser Ian says the extended format is a deliberate tribute to the lived experience of families affected by Alzheimer’s.
“For carers and loved ones, the days feel longer than 24 hours. The challenges don’t stop when the clock does. This event is our way of honouring Pat and everyone walking that journey — showing them they’re not alone.”
The event will incorporate Alzheimer’s awareness messaging throughout the weekend, including the purple ribbon symbol, dedicated tribute spaces, and opportunities for attendees to learn more about the condition and support services.
Local partners including Sir Henry’s Northbridge, the BEERS Endurance Racing community, Mezzstor, BAR31, and much more. Spectators can expect a festival atmosphere with live commentary, night racing, food vendors, and community engagement activities.
The 36 Hour Day aims not only to push the limits of endurance racing, but to spark conversations, raise visibility, and honour the memory of a man whose spirit continues to inspire.
