Join us on Saturday, December 13 at 5:00PM Eastern for our 6th installment of The 1619 Project: Community Conversations.

There are many grievances regarding the actions taken by the current administrationโ€”too many to list individually. Many of you view our bookstore as a safe space to express your concerns and fears. In response, we have been active listeners and have provided support in various forms.

To help galvanize our voices, we've launched Community Conversations, a monthly gathering to discuss the impact of current events. Using The 1619 Project as our guide, we will focus on the themes of each chapter to deepen our understanding of what is happening and how we can better equip ourselves during this challenging time. Where possible, we will have subject matter experts to lead the discussions, but we will also rely on each otherโ€™s insights.

This month's focus is on the 6th chapter related to CAPITALISM. We will begin with a poem read by Kindred Thoughts co-owner, Karin Smith, followed by a discussion led by Ashley Aguilera. Please review the chapter in preparation for the discussion.

We hope you will join us, be open-minded, and contribute your knowledge for the greater good of our communities.

The 1619 Project is available for purchase in store and online.
