About this Event
Join us for the 14th annual NYC Teen Dating Violence Awareness Walk at Tillary Street & Cadman Plaza!
Every year, youth, schools, nonprofit organizations, community residents and activists, local offices, businesses, and elected officials rally together to take a stand against teen dating violence and sexual assault. This event is open to anyone, is free of charge, and provides the opportunity to tell our city that we will not stand for violence.
Physical and sexual dating violence affect 19% of teens. About half of teens report stalking or harassment, and up to 65% report experiencing psychological abuse. We know that true figures are probably far higher, given how many survivors are afraid of disclosing.
If you would like to join us, take a stand, and confront this widespread issue pervading our city, please register to attend this crucial yearly event! Your presence shows survivors they are not alone and allows us to reach an increasing number of New York City residents with information, support, solidarity, and most importantly hope.
The NYC Teen Dating Violence Awareness Walk is organized by The Healing Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in southwest Brooklyn addressing family violence, abuse, and sexual assault. Sponsors of the walk include NYU Langone Health and Merchants of Third Avenue. Co-sponsors include Beauty Beyond the Pieces, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, Catcalls of NYC, CONNECT, Crime Victims Treatment Center, Day One, the Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV), New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault, New York City Teens Connection, Office of Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, Office of Congressman Dan Goldman, Office of Council Member Alexa Avilés, Red Hook Family Justice Center, Safe Horizon, Sanctuary for Families, Violence Intervention Program (VIP), Womankind, and YWCA Brooklyn.
