Get Ready for the 13th Boston International Piano Competition!
Mark your calendars for May 28–31, 2026 and experience world-class piano performances live at Pickman Hall, Longy School of Music in Cambridge — completely free and open to the public.
This exciting event brings together 42 outstanding adult pianists (all age 30 and older) from around the world for four days of inspiring music. Many of these dedicated musicians balance full careers outside music while maintaining an exceptionally high level of artistry. Whether you’re a passionate classical music lover, a fellow pianist, or simply curious, you’ll enjoy stunning performances in a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere right here in the Boston area.
Event Highlights
- Preliminary Rounds (Thu & Fri): 42 pianists each perform a 15-minute program
- Semi-Finals & Silver Stream Finals (Saturday)
- Gold Stream Finals (Sunday): 30-minute programs by the top 6 finalists
- Daily Masterclasses with renowned artists Roberto Poli and Sergey Schepkin (open to the public)
- Piano Marathon on Sunday morning
- Special recital by the 12th Competition winner, Jeff Li (Sunday at noon)
Winners will receive cash prizes, and the Grand Prize winner will be invited to perform a full recital in Boston at a later date.
All events take place at Pickman Hall, Longy School of Music, Cambridge, MA. No tickets required — just come and enjoy the music!

Thursday, May 28
- 9:00 AM – Masterclass with Roberto Poli
- 12:15 PM – Preliminary Rounds (Silver + Gold Stream)
- Ends approximately 6:30 PM (with two 30-minute breaks)
Friday, May 29
- 9:00 AM – Masterclass with Sergey Schepkin
- 12:15 PM – Preliminary Rounds (Gold Stream)
Saturday, May 30
- 10:00 AM – Boston Piano Amateurs Festival (open stage for local enthusiasts)
- 1:15 PM – Silver Stream Finals & Gold Stream Semi-Finals
- Ends approximately 7:00 PM
Sunday, May 31
- 9:00 AM – Piano Marathon with comments by local pianist Tim McFarland
- 12:00 PM – Recital by 12th Competition winner Jeff Li
- 2:45 PM – Gold Stream Final Round (top 6 finalists)
- Winner announcement following the performances (~6:00 PM)
