What is it?
An introduction to how to have fun playing as a nasty clown! We'll use physical movement, targeted games and shadow-self sensitivity to explore how to be loveable and cutthroat at the same time, and understand how the arts of clowning and bouffon can be used to connect deeply with audiences and take on big topics of politics, science and religion.
Who am I?
My name is Meg Hodgson and I play as a dark clown! My current work explores the new space race, biblically accurate angels and non-binary devilish jesters. Often in collaboration with scientists, I've performed at The British Science Festival, Glastonbury Festival, Supernormal Festival and many more. I teach Clown at Rose Bruford Drama School.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is perfect for anyone who is intrigued by clown and wants to bring a cheeky, naughty or spooky side of themselves to their clowning practice. We'll explore how to bring lightness and find value in the bossy, the manipulative, the human. Complete beginners and more experienced artists all super welcome!
