Workshop Overview
Transit Finance Learning Exchange (TFLEx) invites members to attend a two-day, in-person workshop focused on strengthening the finance function’s role in financial and accounting process improvement, system implementation, and change management. Sessions will emphasize practical strategies to support regulatory compliance, grants management, project reporting, and better decision-making across the agency.
Participation is limited to member agency staff only.
Vendors and sales representatives may not attend.

Program Content/Learning Objectives
Finance is called upon to play a central role in gathering, analyzing and organizing data to meet agency accounting and regulatory requirements, provide information to agency management to oversee grants, projects, and day-to-day operations – with a view to long-term financial sustainability. Key steps include identifying ongoing improvement opportunities, determining changed obligations, understanding resultant requirements, and implementing new business processes and systems – in concert with change management. Transit finance officers from across the country will gather in Nashville to share strategies regarding the Finance role in accounting and financial process and system improvements, with a view to making better decisions.
Workshop objectives – After attending this conference, participants will be able to:
- Describe the Finance role in gathering, analyzing and organizing data to meet agency accounting and regulatory requirements and provide information to agency management.
- Identify ongoing improvement opportunities, and the process to determine resulting requirements.
- Determine past and desired Finance future state role in system implementation and change management.
- Explain system implementation pitfalls and victories experienced by sister agencies.
- Define the process to assess agency reporting and information requirements, identify options, and manage process changes.
- Illustrate and share best practices through structured, participative, conversation sessions with other transit agencies.
Participants will earn 14.0 CPE credits.

Transit Finance Learning Exchange is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors.
