Composer/Pianist Ora Uzel, along with Ben Drury (Trumpet) and Bob Bucko (Guitar) will create a live improvisational concert of new music, never before heard, and never again to be heard. The second half of the program will be inspired by a trio of poems from Erik Satie's "Texts not to be read aloud," from the compilation book of his writings and notes: "A Mammal's Notebook."Ora Uzel is a classically trained pianist since age five, with a B.A. Music from Central College (Pella, IA) and M.M. Composition from DePaul University School of Music (Chicago, IL). She has performed Rhapsody in Blue with the Central College Symphonic Wind Ensemble in Vancouver, as well as her own original works premiered by that group. In college she studied Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto. She has also premiered solo piano and chamber compositions at DePaul University School of Music as well as having worked on symphonic works, electronic works, and other chamber works. Her music is informed by Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Ravel, Bartok, and Messiaen to name a few. Website: www.OraUzel.com
